ARE you fed up with your boring bedroom walls but strapped for cash?
Well, it turns out there’s a super simple way you can update any room in your house on a budget – and it’s all thanks to B&Q’s £18 panelling kit.

One savvy homeowner named Betty showed off the very impressive before and after results of a room she was transforming – and it’s little surprise people are racing to their nearest branch to snap it up.
In a clip shared to TikTok (@at_home_with_betty), which has since gone viral and racked up a whopping 1.8 million views, she explains how she’d previously used pine stripwood for panelling projects, so was super excited to test out the bargain buy from the popular home-store chain.
“MDF is SO much easier to cut and leaves much cleaner edges,” she says.
“It’s also easier to sand down to leave a smoother finish.”
She can then be seen showing off a plain bedroom wall, before setting to work applying the ‘Cheshire Mouldings Medium-density fibreboard (MDF) Wall panelling kit.
I did this last month in my room! How easy is that kit to use?? Loved it!
Satisfied B&Q customer
The kit contains 6x 1.2m MDF strips, with one kit covering approximately 1.2msq.
You simply need to add multiple kits together to cover your required area, with Betty revealing she needed 1.5 packs to complete her space.
Demonstrating exactly how she achieved the finished result, she begins by carefully cutting the panelling to size.
She then uses a laser level to ensure the MDF is sitting straight, before fitting them directly to the wall using glue.
The DIY whizz goes on to say that she added a shelf made using pine, which isn’t included, and then painted the panelling in Farrow and Ball ‘Off-Black.’
Clearly delighted with the results, she enthused: “Overall, if you want to save yourself some time and effort, I would definitely recommend giving this kit a go!”
Not only is MDF a hard-wearing and stable material which is likely to remain in place for years, but the smooth surfaces are also easy to paint any colour of your choice.
So it’s no wonder people have been racing to the comments section to praise the product, which is the perfect way to create a bold statement on any wall.
