A Redditor whose account has since been deleted posed the question to others on the social media platform.

“What’s one makeup [or] beauty advice you wish you’d known sooner?” she asked.

“I’ll go first — don’t shave the ends of your eyebrows,” she added of her own cosmetic mishaps.

“It won’t look like the Pinterest girlies.

“Save yourself months of embarrassment, please. Not worth it.”

WISDOM AND BEAUTY

Another Redditor by the username Kmia55 gave her own two cents on what she wish she’d known sooner about beauty.

“I’m going to give the old woman’s version — 68 years old,” she said.

“Use concealer instead of foundation.”

She named her go-to purchase for replacing her foundation with concealer.

“I buy the MAC Studio Fix in light concealer palette and use it only where needed and my makeup looks fresher,” she said.

“They say not to use powder if you are older, but using a makeup setting mist did nothing.

“Someone here turned me on to Fenty Butter Blurring Powder and the lightest use of it has been a game changer.”

The Fenty Butter Blurring Powder is available from Sephora for $36.

She also gave some key skincare advice for younger beauty fans.

“Don’t over exfoliate your skin. Shaving, using a washcloth, et cetera, are all forms of exfoliation,” she said.

“Your skin barrier when you are older is a must.”

Anti-aging tips

  • Keep your skin hydrated internally by drinking water and externally with moisturizer.
  • Always use sunscreen, even if you’re not in direct sunlight.
  • Use Vitamin C to brighten the skin and don’t forget to apply to your neck.

She also addressed a makeup trend that she feels ages her, although others swear by it.

“A lip liner is considered a must, but it ages me when my lipstick wears off and the liner is left,” she said.

“Instead, I use Cover Girl Outlast lip stain in nude and layer my lipstick over it.

“I’ve been told by many that I’m the only one they know who can get lipstick to last. I use no lip liner ever.”

The 68-year-old beauty fan even left off with some sound styling advice to top off any look.

“As far as fashion, solid colors look better on me than anything patterned.”
