WITH the cost of living being high for many people, some homeowners are opting to do renovation work themselves, instead of paying for an expensive professional.
And if you are looking for a hack to apply paint smoothly, you may just need a humble tanning mitt.

One woman shared how she ditched her paint brushes and swears by using her bronzing glove.
She took to her TikTok account @housereno_bligdonforde to show the process, and people were amazed with the professional-looking finish.
The DIY fan wrote: “Paint hack!
“Seen this on many pages but can confirm it does an amazing job!!
“Such a shiny finish that you can’t achieve with a paint brush.
“TIP make sure you wear a glove under the tanning mitt.”
The woman demonstrated adding a layer of black paint to the bannister along her stairs, and showed how you simply need to glide along with the mitt.
Her view has clearly impressed internet users, as it has racked up over 91,000 likes.
One person wrote: “I will never look at my tanning mitt the same way ever again, that application is so smooth.”
Another added: “It makes perfect sense that this would work but I would’ve never thought about it myself.”
A third commented: “I’m actually blown away.”
Previously, tradespeople have shared their reaction to the tanning mitt hack, and didn’t seem to be fans.
“As a painter of 22 years, I can confidently tell you that this is the last way you would ever want to paint your handrails,” one wrote.
“I’m a professional painter & decorator. Don’t use this rubbish. Use a good quality brush,” another added.
