A WOMAN has shared a DIY £1 hack that will banish weeds from your garden instantly.
Kate Ring shared her nifty hack via a video posted to her TikTok channel.
“Stop spending a fortune on toxic weed killer, because we are about to make a non-toxic versions” the mum of four told her followers.
To start with, the 42-year-old explained that you will need an empty spray bottle, for example, an empty bottle of window cleaner.
Then, you will need, white vinegar, table salt, and washing up liquid.
All of these ingredients are super cheap, so the whole mixture shouldn’t cost you more than £1.
Kate said that this solution is perfect if you have pets, as weed killer is toxic, whereas this solution will not harm them.
The mum squeezed a lot of washing up liquid into the spray bottle, and then added some salt and vinegar.
She didn’t measure out any of the products, and said that it’s fine to just do it by eye.
After mixing the ingredients together, Kate took her spray bottle over to a patch of weeds, and sprayed the mixture on to it.
Salt is a great natural alternative to toxic weed killer.
It works by increasing the levels on ions in the soil and increasing osmotic pressure, which means the weeds will be unable to absorb water and will dry out.
White vinegar works in a similar way, as the acidity of it breaks down cell walls and removes moisture from weeds.
Washing up liquid does not work on its own to kill weeds but improves the effectiveness of the formula by holding the salt and the vinegar on the weeds.
However, be sure not to spray this mixture near any plants that you want to keep, as this mixture will kill those as well.
Kate’s video, which was posted under the username @yourmategingerkate, has likely left many people impressed, as it has racked up over 92, 000 views on the video sharing platform.
