A REDDITOR with an aversion to folding laundry has revealed how they combat the anxious feeling they get when faced with too much of it.
They shared a tip that makes the job much easier to do and helps them get it done quicker.

Redditor Leavesandwood admitted in a post that they “tend to have a mountain of clean laundry constantly.”
This is because they get really overwhelmed by the time-consuming task of folding.
They revealed that they have depression and ADHD, which makes tasks like these more difficult for them.
“Seeing the mountain every day gives me a lot of anxiety and I hate my clothes getting all wrinkly,” they explained.
Thankfully, they stumbled across a useful tip on Facebook that really helped them get through it.
They felt it was important to pass on the knowledge.
“I don’t know why I hadn’t thought of it before but here you go,” they wrote.
The first step in the process is to separate the folding by type of clothing.
“Pull all the shirts out of the clean laundry and just fold those,” they advised. “Take a break, then do the same thing with pants.”
They said you repeat the process until all of your laundry is folded.
“Very simple but has made the task less daunting and faster for me,” they explained.
The Redditor, who is also in charge of folding their husband’s clothes, clarified in the comments that their method doesn’t require “meticulous sorting.”
Instead, they described it as “more of a chaotic 30-second speed run.”
They grab all the shirts out of their basket, throw them on their bed and fold them until they are done.
Many Redditors related to their struggles and shared their hacks for making folding laundry less daunting.
“It’s my watching TV job. Movie night, get the laundry done and fold during the movie. Any movie is long enough to get it all done,” one said.
“Same! I do a combo of both. Put on a good movie/show, separate the items by type, and then get to folding. I feel like it also helps to have specific days for it as well,” another agreed.
Others offered helpful suggestions to get the tiresome task done quicker.
“When I’m pulling everything out of the machine, I just lay the hanging stuff flat and try to hang it immediately,” someone commented.
“Or if I’m lazy, I’ll fold it over the edge of the basket or fold it nicely on top of the pile. We don’t have too many fancy wrinkly items though.”
“Not who you asked but I lay shirts across a laundry basket rail to fold or hang later and fold pants/shorts immediately,” another shared.
“I go for whatever is closest except to make sure that some shorts or pants go in first for ballast. Socks and underwear can be wrinkly for my purposes but YMMV on those.”
