SHE thought she’d take a gamble when she spotted mystery bags in her local chemist.

So Blayze forked out £10 (NZ$20) on one of the brown paper bags, and couldn’t wait to open it when she got home.

However, when she did, she was left both confused and disappointed by the contents – as she documented the opening in a video on TikTok.

First up, she pulled out a Barbie bath bomb, in the shape of a seashell.

Next up was a kids’ storage bowl with a lid and a straw, before she concluded her ‘haul’ with a tube of Barbie glitter hair gel.

Once Blayze put a video of her unboxing on Instagram, someone replied to point out a mistake she hadn’t seen.

“Someone replied to my story on Insta,” she added.

She then showed the front of the paper bag, which indicated that it was a lucky bag for kids, and not for adults as she had initially believed.

“Bruhhh. This is what a 4am shift does to me!” Blayze captioned the video.

“This is why we read!” one person commented on the video.

“I grabbed the wrong thing at a grocery store before for not checking.

“I paid for it and noticed when I got home!”

“Yea I had a 4am wake up for work tho so I am excusing myself this one time,” Blayze replied.

“Yeah babe, the Barbie stuff is clearance Christmas stock we’re trying to get rid of lol!” another added.

“Rip,” Blayze laughed. “Rip,” Blayze laughed.

“Why didn’t they say kids as well on the large signage?”

“Last time I got a lucky dip from Chemist Warehouse I got all used/ tester make-up items,” a third commented.

Where to find mystery boxes

MYSTERY boxes are becoming more and more popular, with people keen to take a gamble in buying one. But where can you get one from?

Charity shops

Lots of charity shops have started putting together mystery boxes as a way to get rid of stock that they’ve been otherwise unable to sell. While you can never guarantee what you’re going to get, these boxes are usually cheaper than ones bought elsewhere.

eBay

Many retailers use eBay to sell their stock, with options on the auction site including unclaimed luggage or parcel returns, all put together in a mystery box. It’s not like a normal ‘auction’ though – there will usually be a buy it now price so it’s just like any other internet transaction.

Online retailers

As the popularity of mystery boxes increases, other retailers have started selling them in the hope that they will be a hit among customers. Have a look on sites such as Amazon, Etsy and Wowcher, and you’ll often find the mystery boxes are listed by genre too.

Google

If there’s a particular niche mystery box you’re looking for, it’s always worth searching for it. There are so many websites out there selling mystery boxes, you’ll undoubtedly find what you’re after.

As with buying anything online, make sure you are purchasing from a trusted retailer and a secure website.

“Me and my friend were about to buy one but we peeked inside and they all had the same stuff in them,” someone else said.

“Not a lucky dip at all!”

But someone else said theirs had been more successful, writing: “I bought three for myself and my adult daughters, got four men’s colognes, two concealers, two lipsticks and two colour palettes, three items in each.”

“The lady told me the lucky dip is for kids I was too embarrassed to admit I didn’t realise and said it’s for my niece (it was in fact NOT for my niece),” another admitted.
