A MUM-OF-TWO who lives in a council house has been trolled by ”jealous” people who compare her huge garden to ”a park”.
Mum Maddy took to TikTok to show off the stunning outdoor space of her three-bed council property – however, not everyone was happy for the parent.

Maddy, who lives in Wealden, East Sussex, only moved into the large council house last weekend and has since been trying to turn it into a cosy home for her family and twins.
But although the last few days may have been ”busy” for the mum, she can definitely find some peace by relaxing in the massive garden – which some reckon is so big, you could easily ”fit two new builds” in there.
The gorgeous outdoor space – which Maddy described as ”peaceful” – boasts a large area of green grass, a paved path, as well as gorgeous shrubs in summery colours and a wooden fence.
In fact, even the parent was ”surprised” that the council hadn’t built another property on the piece of land, and wished she was able to give fans ”half of it”.
”I love my house so much already feels like home,” the mum wrote in the caption of her video.
Chatting to fellow social media users about her future plans, Maddy said she was considering buying the place at some point.
To be able to focus in order to make this happen, the mum would ”need to get the correct care and support” for her son.
Meanwhile, as that’s happening, Maddy said she was hoping to plant ”lots of different flowers” over time, to get the garden summer-ready.
Since being shared on the social media platform, Maddy’s clip has taken the internet by storm, winning her page more than 430k views in just two days.
But whilst some were happy for the the mum and her family, there were also a few TikTok trolls who in Maddy’s eyes, were ”jealous”.
One critic said: ”My garden is half the size and I actually paid for it.”
Another chimed in, adding that ”council houses are cheap as chips”, in their opinion.
”I’d much rather have one than paying a big deposit and mortgage like a mug.”
”Cries on my balcony,” penned another envious social media user.
”I am jealous. I am in London renting by myself and my garden looks like a shoe box in comparison to this,” a fourth moaned.
How do you apply for council housing?
To apply for a council home, you need to fill out and hand in an application to your local authority.
To find your local authority, use the Government’s council locator tool on its website.
Once you have access to your local council’s website, it should offer you guidelines on how to complete your application.
After applying, you’ll most likely have to join a waiting list – but bear in mind, even if you are put on a waiting list, this doesn’t automatically guarantee you an house offer.
”Can me and my dog move in?”
Luckily, it wasn’t all negative, as hundreds raced to hit back at the meanies – and even Maddy responded to one troll.
”I pay rent for my garden. Are you jealous?”
One woman said: ”Praying when I finally get a council house it has a huge garden. This is beautiful.”
”That’s a whole park!! Wow!! It’s amazing!” another couldn’t believe their eyes.
Who is eligible for council housing?
You are eligible to apply for council housing if you are a British citizen living in the UK providing you have not lived abroad recently.
Each council has its local rules about who qualifies to go on the housing register, but it is based on “points” or a “banding” system.
For example, you’re likely to be offered housing first if you:
- are homeless
- live in cramped conditions
- have a medical condition made worse by your current home
- are seeking to escape domestic violence.
EU workers and their families, as well as refugees may also be eligible.
