Make-up enthusiast Abigail Feehley was forced to find a purse-friendly way to give her pout a more plump appearance, as she couldn’t afford the upkeep.

The young woman, who’d used her work bonus to fund the first syringe of filler, instantly fell in love with the volume in her lips – however, she’s since come across a non-invasive method that also costs just pennies.

The secret behind juicy lips? Turns out, it’s most likely already in your skincare routine – hyaluronic acid.

Loved and used by millions across the world, hyaluronic acid is the natural substance that caused the trend for active-ingredient skincare to really kick off.

Known as a humectant, this skincare miracle is able to hold a thousand times its weight in water.

This means that when applied topically to the skin, hyaluronic acid can draw water in from the atmosphere surrounding the face, truly locking them into the deeper layer.

Not only will it leave the complexion radiant and hydrated, but the skin’s barrier will also be protected from exposure to free radicals, including harsh UV rays and pollution.

Pout of control

However, according to Abigail, as well as experts in the field, this serum also works wonders for your lips.

As explained by the industry gurus at Procoal London, our lips are prone to losing moisture throughout the day – and this is where hyaluronic acid comes into play.

By dabbing some of the serum onto your pout, you are essentially drawing moisture into your lips and locking it into place – and this, in turn, results in softer, smoother, hydrated lips.

What’s more, beauty buffs may also find that their lips feel and look plumped thanks to the collagen boosting results of .

Although hyaluronic acid will not give you the same results as lip filler, it’s a great alternative to those looking to slash the costs or simply if you prefer to avoid using injectables.

Raving about the non-invasive method, Abigail (@abigailfeehls) said in her video that the serum was ”clinically proven to plump them”.

Running low on your favourite hyaluronic acid? The high street is full of different options, whatever your budget.

Superdrug’s Me + Hyaluronic Acid Booster, 100ml, is selling for £14.99, whilst rival Boots are offering Boots Ingredients Hyaluronic Acid Serum, 30ml, for £5.
