Now is the perfect time of year to refresh your property and take care of your to-do list.

Essential Living Development Manager Camilla Lesser shared tips to tackle inside and outside your home for spring.

FRESH PAINT

Lesser explained how you can “reflect the color and brightness of spring” just with paint.

Whether it’s a certain room in your home that’s been bugging you; some old furniture that needs a refresh or even just touching up trim and baseboards,

She said that painting can be broken down into smaller tasks over time.

“If it’s done right, it’s also one of the easiest DIY home improvements that you can make to completely transform the look of a room,” she explained.

If you’d rather “play it safe,” Lesser said you could opt for more pastel tones, which are supposedly the usual “go-to colors” for this season.

But if you’re feeling more “ambitious,” you could try decorating with pink.

The shade adds a “sense of elegance and playfulness” to the room of your choice.

“Spring is all about bringing the outside in too so with that in mind, you may want to consider the color green in your palette,” she added.

DECLUTTER DETAILS

Lesser also emphasized the importance of a “quick declutter and organize” around your home, which can also clear your head.

“Take advantage of any short bursts of free time to tackle the areas of your home that are currently filled with the most clutter,” she suggested.

Clear out the junk that you no longer need or create priority lists and sort those items into organized piles.

This could be as simple as organizing your closet or donating old clothes at a thrift store.

Why put off tomorrow what you can do today?

UPCYCLING FURNITURE

Another job you can do to revitalize your home is by upcycling an old couch or chair.

“Upcycling is a great way to breathe new life into old pieces of furniture in your home without having to invest a lot of time or money into it,” Lesser said.

She suggested getting creative by stenciling old furniture with paint or wall-mounting wooden crates to make a “new” bookshelf.

It is more sustainable than throwing it out and purchasing a new one altogether.

Budget interior design tips

Interior designer Judy Hoang shared her furniture tips with The U.S. Sun.

  • Thrift furniture and paint it to match your decor.
  • Test if an item is fit for its purpose before thrifting.
  • Shop at Target or HomeGoods for rugs, lamps, desks, and pillows.
  • Invest in classic timeless pieces.
  • Set up smart home lighting to save money.

DECOR REFRESH

If painting is out of the picture, Lesser described other ways to bring spring into your home with interior design.

“Swap out dark winter decor for lighter pieces that reflect the change in season,” she said.

This could include changing throws and pillows to brighter-toned colors like pastels and having fresh greenery and natural textures.

Also, switch out thicker curtains for lighter drapes and try to create spring centerpieces for your table.

UP-TO-DATE CLEANING

Lastly, don’t forget to prioritize general household cleaning and proper maintenance.

“Aim to focus on high-traffic areas in the home or areas that have been especially neglected over the winter months,” Lesser said.

Make sure to go from room to room and identify any minor repairs to be done because this is a “quick win for you to tick off” easily.
